Need to continue in Patience...

Elder Fife is still doing well, but we need to realize that this is a race that is going to be won in inches, not feet. His fever is back, but is being managed well. They have also put him back on the breathing machine, but changed the mode to "assistive". He was breathing completely on his own for 4 or so hours, but they decided that he was having to work to hard at it. The machine only assists to make sure he is taking deep enough breaths. He is completely controlling how often and the duration of each breath. He also seems to be more active (fidgeting, rubbing one leg with the other, rubbing his hands on his sides, etc).
These are all good steps forward and that is all we are praying for.
I re-read a talk given by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf on patience.
It is located here: Talk by Dieter F. Uchtdorf A link to the video is here: Video of talk by Dieter F. Uchtdorf
He says, "There is an important concept here: patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can—working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. "
So, with the love, support and prayers of everyone, we will all continue in patience, having faith that our son is in our Heavenly Father's hands. He will be ok, I know this....I just don't know how long this is going to take.
Thanks to all of you, (or for those in the South "all you all"!)
David and Linda

  2. Dear Dave and Linda,

My friend, Lisa Gatov, told me about your son's accident. I'm happy to be able to follow your blog and to read about Cory's daily improvements. You are all in my heart and prayers.
