Still moving forward

Cory's fever has come down. They put him on some antibiotics last night and today that seem to be working. He has an infection in his lungs. Cory has been on a breathing tube since the accident. He is able to breathe on his own, but they did this to protect his airway. The ventilator is set on assist, so Cory is doing most of the work. They will be switching the breathing tube out to a tracheotomy today. There is less risk of infection and other complications with the trache. They are also able to take him off the ventilator sooner than with a breathing tube, plus, he doesn't wake up fully with the tube down his throat.
He seems to be slightly more alert. He is holding his eyes open a little longer and is looking about his room.
Again, I feel peace that this is all going to work out all right, I just don't know how long it will take. We are grateful for so many prayers offered on behalf of our son and us. Thank you for your love.
David
