Good news continues!

The good news continues!
Cory is continuing to respond to verbal commands (you do have to be loud and repetitive, but that's ok). He is barely cracking his eyes open when asked.
He has been on a ventilator to protect his airway/lungs since after he got here. He was able to breathe on his own when they brought him in. This morning they have him off of the ventilator and he is breathing on his own for now. The doctor will evaluate him later and decide if they are going to remove the breathing tube.

To all of you that are praying and fasting for our son, thank you. Know that your prayers are being heard. There are truly angels (literally and figuratively) surrounding and ministering unto our son, us, and our family back home.
I cannot describe the joy and gratitude of such an outpouring of love. We have never been on the receiving side of such compassion, but it is truly moving and strengthening! Without everyone's support and love, there is no way we could be getting through this.

To the other parents out there with missionaries in the field; Know, without a doubt, that your sons and daughters are in God's hands. Know that they are loved, beyond measure, by those in their communities. Their Christ-like service is recognized by everyone.

Ask.... no tell, you sons or daughters that Elder Fife was being obedient. He was wearing his helmet and that is one of the very important reasons that he is still with us today. I don't care if you think you look like a "dork" with your helmet on! Please, for our son's sake (and theirs) make sure they are all wearing it!

  3. Our family is praying for your son. Our son, Elder Josh Weathers, is currently serving in the Savannah area and so I'm sure he is deeply affected by this as he also had a bike accident while serving in Augusta and had surgery to place plates and screws in his arm. Heavenly Father knows and protects His missionaries! Sending our love and heart-felt thoughts and prayers to Elder Fife and your family.

  4. Having been in a similar place to the one you are in now, can I please say, what can we do to help? Those prayers are like cushions to catch you when you need it so badly and the love is overwhelming, so very comforting, and it takes your breath away. The Savage family is praying for the Fife family, but please, if there is anything we can do, let us know. You have an army waiting here to care for you.
