We're seeing miles of progress today!

Well, our son is definitely still all here. When Linda and I went over to the rehab this morning, Cory had written us a note! While it was not the best penmanship, it is framed in our room at Ronald McDonald house tonight. The note said;
I love you!
Love, Elder Fife
I need some help now!
I love you Mom and Daddy
Love your only son!

Talk about your heart jumping for JOY! He also ate some applesauce and a honey like juice drink. They are starting him on a liquid type diet tomorrow, so the feeding tube may be removed.
Also, (as if this wouldn't have been enough!) they were asking him questions and having him write responses to them. They asked;
  • what his name was, to which he wrote: "Cory Richard Fife"
  • if he knew where he was: "Am I in Mexico?" which he crossed out and wrote "Savannah, Georgia" (apparently his sense of humor is still working...)
  • did he have any brothers or sisters: "Casey married K" (the K was big, as in Big K for Kevin), "Caytlin" and "Corrine"
  • if he was ok: "Sleepy" and "Hungry"
And then...Elder Eller (Cory's companion) came by after a baptism (that Linda and I got to participate with!) to visit Cory. Once Cory woke up, he went for a trip in the wheel chair. Elder Eller told him about the mission, the goals that have been met, etc. He gave Cory new mormon.org cards. Cory tried to put them in his shirt pocket (like a missionary should) but was wearing a t-shirt at the time. Then Elder Eller talked about using the milk jugs to work out and did Elder Fife think it was working? Cory shook his head "no" and laughed. He was smiling from ear to ear the whole time. Then Elders Enosa and Fletcher came by with Cory waiting in the lobby to greet them. They were all smiles!

Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave a talk titled "The Infinite Power of Hope" (shortened version Video of talkIn it he says, "Hope, on the other hand, is like the beam of sunlight rising up and above the horizon of our present circumstances. It pierces the darkness with a brilliant dawn. It encourages and inspires us to place our trust in the loving care of an eternal Heavenly Father, who has prepared a way for those who seek for eternal truth in a world of relativism, confusion, and of fear."
We have truly seen the Lord's loving hand piercing any darkness that we have felt. Elder Eller told Cory today, that all of the missionaries having been praying for Elder Fife in every prayer that they offer. He then said, "And you know how many times we pray every day!"
I truly know that the prayers of thousands are being answered every day. We are indeed grateful to a loving Father in Heaven who is helping our son. We love all of you, and thank you so much!
